Copulating Corpulent Wine Critics–Coming Soon

“Clyde Craven-Jones”

Not a bad name for a wine critic. So no surprise that it is the moniker that springs from the imagination of James Conaway, who has begun excerpting his forthcoming novel “Nose” on his blog—appropriately entitled “Nose”.

“Nose”, which will be published by Thomas Dunne Books (St. Martin’s Press) early in 2013, is Conaway’s third writing foray into the world of wine. His first two books were non-fiction successes that focused on the culture and environment of Napa Valley and earned him a place on the New York Times Best Sellers List.

This first excerpt of “Nose” introduces us to the corpulent and powerful wine critic Craven-Jones, his reliably sexual wife Clair, and a mystery wine that appears to me to be an important part of the forthcoming book.

James has previously disclosed that “Nose”, set in Northern California’s wine country will bring us in contact with wine critics, wine bloggers, wine making elite and great wine. The Amazon page for the book describes it as: “Bonfire of the Vanities Meets Sideways”. That’s very promising.

This first excerpt that Conaway has published at his blog discloses a good deal about the nature of character and plot coming to us in this new novel, but only enough to whet the appetite. I highly recommend that you take a look. However, if you have an aversion to reading about copulating corpulent wine critics, you may want to wait until the next installment that Conaway posts on his blog.

James Conaway would be writing for TMZ if the Napa Valley and wine critics didn’t exist.

Actually, James writes primarily about non-wine themes, and very successfully. No need to attempt to sully James’ reputation by bringing TMZ into it.

I don’t intend to sully his reputation anymore than he does that of wine critics. Nuff said.

I do trust all of the ideas you have offered for your post. They’re very convincing and can certainly work. Nonetheless, the posts are very short for newbies. Could you please lengthen them a little from subsequent time? Thanks for the post.
