100 Points or 65 Points?

So, I’m fishing around the Wine Spectator Ratings Search online. I’m doing some research for a client. In particular, I’m trying to get a handle on the reputation of a particular appellation based on reviews from a number of publications. When I start to think about not which wines are the highest rated, but rather, which wine, according to the Wine Spectator’s rating system might be called the worst value on the planet.

So here’s my search: Wines over $80, from anywhere in the world, with scores under 70 Points. I’m looking for the highest price and lowest score. Boy…do I find a beaut!!

M. Chapoutier
Ermitage White L’Ermite 2000

France-Rhône
Issue: Nov 15, 2002
Acidic and strange. Medium-bodied, this sour wine has a wood polish character that is off-putting. Tart finish. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 120 cases made. (PM)

Price: $369
Score: 65 Points

So now here’s the odd thing. Didn’t Parker give this wine 100 Points? If there’s someone out there who can confirm this, I’d be curious to know.
