Vineyard Flooding in Napa And Sonoma County

Vineflood
There’s no better time of year to have the vineyards in Napa Valley and Sonoma County flooded.

Currently the vines are in dormancy and are affected very little by flooding and even near submersion. According to one winemaker I spoke with, the vines can stay under water for up to two weeks without severe damage. However, it seems very unlikely that those vineyards that were hit by any flooding would stay that way for that long.

So, no need to worry about the vines. Instead, worry about and say a prayer for those people who lives were truly affected by this last weekend’s flooding.
