Guess The Vineyard, Sip Some Zins.

I have two pairs of tickets to the Saturday, January 30 Zinfandel Advocates & Producers GRAND TASTING in San Francisco. Who wants a pair?

The first two people to identify the name and location of the vineyard outlined below get a pair of tickets to the ZAP Grand Tastign. Put your guess in the comments section. I think this is pretty easy for fans of Zinfandel. The tickets sell for $59 a piece.

Why do you want to go to this Zinfandel Grand Tasting? It's the best Zinfandel tasting in the world. You've got 200 Zinfandel producers under one roof. And who are those producers?

Here’s a look at ZAP 2008 – – The video is about 16 min long, but is kindda funny so the time passes quickly.

On second thought, is it the Heritage Vineyard at the Oakville Research Station in Napa?

  6. Niels - January 13, 2010

I believe it is Old Hill Ranch Vineyard

  7. Niels - January 13, 2010

I took a walking tour once of the ranch. Very fun place to visit…quite a history.

  8. Niels - January 13, 2010

It is located near Sonoma, I think officially in Glen Ellen. It is behind the Developmental Center.

Ding Ding Ding….Niels is the winner.
The next set of tickets go up tomorrow. It is in fact the Old Hill Ranch in Glen Ellen. Well done, Niels.

    Modern technology and luck…
I didn’t recognize the vineyard right away. I started picking reasonably well know wineries that make zin, and using Google maps to look at their site and nearby areas. After about 1/2 hour, I decided it wasn’t working, and went to lunch.
Over lunch I remembered this Sonoma Land Trust tour of a very old Zin vineyard that I went on a couple of years ago near Glen Ellen. A few minutes with Google maps and bingo!
It was a great tour, and the wine was great. The vineyard is a field blend of a LOT of grape varieties. Check out this map:
