    Porto, Portugal

    Porto!
Has to be Europe with the quantity of tiled roof, and hot by the looks of it. Helps to narrow it down to one or two locations anyway.

Dang, it IS Porto. Nicely done!

That was too easy. Obviously a european city with an east to west flowing river. Porto was the only choice.

Actually Oporto is on the north side of the river, Villa Nova de Gaia, the burg to the south is where the Port is made and aged.

Based on tomorrow’s clue, and the correct ID of Yquem, this is somewhere in Sardinia, perhaps around Oristano. The Arno and Cecina (among other Italian rivers) also flow west, but I think they are too far north to be considered southeast of Bordeaux.
