So, You Want to Live in California Wine Country
I imagine a number of folks are either currently visiting or are set to return from a visit to California Wine Country for the holidays. If anything like me, these travelers ask themselves while on vacation, “Could I live Here”? That’s what I asked myself as my bride and I spent time this last week with family in San Antonio, Texas.
Of course, after determining if the area suits one’s eye, the next question is what can I get for my money. California Wine Country can be expensive where housing prices are concerned. Yet, not ALL California wine regions are equal in this regard. Napa Valley is the quintessential “Wine Country” and if you are looking for a home here, well, you won’t quite get as much for your money than if you are looking to move to, say, Temecula Wine Country.
But to give you just a taste of what you get for your real estate money in different California wine regions, have a look at these representative homes in various California wine regions. Each ranges from $450,000 to $500,000.
NAPA, CA (NAPA VALLEY) $499,000

Thanks for that, Tom. It illustrates why I changed form going to California to get into the wine business to going to the Finger Lakes.
I know of a splendid place that is available at Keuka Lake for just over $400K. Three bedrooms, 2 baths, about 2500 square feet plus a greenhouse, a shed, a barn, a tractor, 7.25 acres (5 suitable for vineyards), and a view of Keuka Lake that knocks everyone dead.
Thomas,
Merry Christmas.
Funny….Every time I travel and look at housing prices I’m knocked back on my heels when I compare it to prices in this neck of the woods. It’s gorgeous here. No doubt. But holy cow do we pay for it. Your example is in no way a surprise. Best to you and all of yours!!
Great info my friend, you know how much Cindy and I love the wine country. We will be visiting you two beautiful people soon. Miss you guys!

I usually check house prices when I visit the various wine regions as well. Housing is high throughout California, but the wine country can be even more so!
