What is it with fires and wine these days?
It is reported that yesterday’s explosion at an fuel depot outside England that originally raised fears of a terrorist attack damaged a number of nearby businesses, including Scottish and Newcastle, the country’s largest brewer and a distributor of wine and spirits.
The company reports that upwards of $18 million dollars in wine and spirits were damaged by the nearby explosion. Recently we saw the huge warehouse fire in Vallejo, California (reportedly arson) destroy somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 million dollars in wine.
One more reminder of how important insurance is.
