Wine and Politics and Trump and Blah, Blah Blah
I’ve been watching presidential party conventions pretty closely since at least 1988. Some are more interesting than others. Some candidates are more compelling than others. Some balloon drops are more robust than others. Yet I’ve never personally felt represented at these various conventions; that is, represented as a member of the American wine industry.
That’s all about to change.
On Tuesday Night, at the Republican National Convention, a wine marketer will address the gathering. Kerry Woolard has been the General Manager of Trump Winery in Virginia since 2012 when she was brought in to manage the Virginia Winery purchased by Trump in 2011. By all accounts Ms. Woolard uses the biggest and best words, which should make her a wonderful speaker.
Perhaps Ms. Woolard will speak about the vibrancy of he American wine industry. Or maybe she’ll just talk about the greatness of Trump Winery.
Perhaps Ms. Woolard will speak about the intense entrepreneurship displayed within the American wine industry. Or maybe she’ll talk about how Trump Winery went from a losing winery in 2010 to the best winery in the world in 2016.
Either way, it’s a great step for the American wine industry to have member of the fraternity up there, at the podium and….and…
Ah for shit sake. Never mind.
Ha!
