Here’s what looks like a very good one (plus, organized in large part by wine bloggers) SHARE OUR WINE 2007 The November 17th Wine & Auction event in Orange County benefits the Orangewood Children’s Foundation which is the only Orange County, California emergency shelter for neglected and sexually, physically or emotionally abused children. Our friends at Grape Radio, Jay Selman and Brian Clark have heavily involved in this event, which looks to be filled not only with some serious wine-related…
There seems to be no stopping Pinot Noir. Years after "Sideways" put the variety on the map for the average wine drinker and sales of the wine soared, we still are seeing healthy year over year increases in its sales. When Americans discover something new, and something they like, they tend to embrace it, don’t they. One of the better Pinot-centric events is "Pinot On The River". Driving through southern Napa Valley and the town of Sonoma yesterday I saw no less than 8 trucks hauling grapes—nice, plump, aromatic grapes. (ever drive behind a truck hauling just-harvested grapes? It smells like I imagine the Welch’s production factory does.) Harvest is undoubtedly underway here in the North Coast. My reports have Sauvignon Blanc coming in just about everywhere. Pinot can’t be that far behind, particularly in the warmer areas. There is still a lot that can happen between…
