Something strange happened on the way to passing wine legislation in Oregon…a rebellion broke out. Announced five days ago was the formation of a new Oregon wine trade association: The Oregon Wine Council (OWC) According to the Council’s press release: “The Oregon Wine Council (OWC) has formed with a board of directors and members representing the wine industry statewide. Forming from the coalition who defended the wine industry from anti-competitive wine legislation during the 2019 Oregon Legislature, the OWC represents…
The ascent of the Oregon wine industry continues apace. The latest bit of evidence that Oregon wine (and Oregon Pinot Noir in particular) is one of the hottest wine categories in the United States comes in the form of the 2018 Oregon Vineyard and Winery Report, an annual report produced by the Oregon Wine Board. However, what about that other 1/3…
Since writing about the proposed conjunctive labeling law in the Oregon legislature meant for wines produced in the Willamette Valley, I’ve been thinking a lot about the Willamette Valley.
